For the Mastery Vaechi and their Fiadrytch counterparts I chose a generic look, to signify the universal use of the cards. They can therefore be used by any player no matter the Warring Faction they are fielding.
If the demand is there, we have plans to make available Mastery Cards that are culture specific, with Vaechi or other beings especially significant to that culture in question in place of the generic ones; eg. the Nuko?yr could have tree spirits, which ties into their own mythology and folklore.
The Vaechi, and subsequently the Fiadrytch, follow a progression across the cards. The first type has a feathered look to them, the other trio a more plantlike look. Each trio is composed of a small, medium and larger being of that ilk.
Size does not denote power where it comes to Vaechi etc, so it didn?t really matter the sequence they appeared in, from 1 to 12, but I staggered them every other number so that there would be an element of them getting larger as the numbers progressed higher. I didn?t want this to be perfect as after all, a 1 beats a 12.
For their overall look on the Mastery Cards, i wanted to make them dark with light edging, as if the glow from behind permeated them somehow, even defining them to a degree in that they have an internal glow that matches the external light. It also gives them a distinctive look that sets them apart from the world's conventional species' like Meoqai or Tior-Cur.
Of all the Edadh creations i probably have drawn more Vaechi than anything else and over the years and releases i expect they'll get to show their faces. Even the faceless ones. |
