i think you guys already bow that an edadh rpg is a absolute yes from me. It's great that its coming so soon.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

i see you guys already have a pretty good idea of what you want to do so don't worry about this if you think it's a bad idea.

My dads idea was for each class (if you are using classes) to have it's own set of conflict cards with their own powers on the cards the you could replace the cards in your hand with better ones as you leveled up. The advantages are you have your ability's right their in front of you it adds another dynamic to the resolution and all the classes would be different,

Anyway looking forward to the book Very Happy

I would be very interested to try an RPG based on the Edadh world. From what I have read so far, it is quite an original world and would be awesome to make characters and see them evolve is such a vibrant, living land.

I guess most of my questions would be mechanics-wise but I am not too worried about it. Anything Edadh would definitely find its way in my game library. Smile

Don't worry about the mechanics. The first foray into the RPG side of things will be with us all soon.

In the RPG the cards are an integral part of the game. So, at the moment you only have the cards from the base set and possibly the expansion. How can you roleplay with just these?

Well, with the addition of a couple of 'general' skills and a basic character card which includes personality and add to that the ability to create scenarios, then you have a lot of scope. At this point your characters will be part of either the Dzaa army or Ang rebels so your RPG sessions will revolve around either battlefield scenarios or missions that are skirmish or scout based. But these give plenty of opportunity to roleplay around an incredibly simple mechanic that monitors relationships from one character to another, from characters to their troops, from characters to their seniors, and so on.

The interaction of relationships and personalities as the battlefield adventure unfolds creates very interesting outcomes, results and situations. And once the actual combat is over there's the aftermath to sort out. Did your troops let the overall Unit down? Or did you excel? How do others react to this? Is there healthy or malicious rivalry in the Unit? Is someone gunning for your position? Can the leader keep the Unit together or are cracks appearing in its accord?

If the Unit starts falling apart morale wise then it will impact its ability to fight cohesively. United, the Unit will be a force to reckon with.

Can you gain glory in battle that will increase your fame? Or will your failures make you a laughing stock or 'joke' in the army? What will the troops under you think of your status? Are your troops gaining in ability and becoming battle-hardened veterans? Or do you fail to keep the troops under you alive? Are you becoming known as a jinx for your troops?

Are you becoming a famous or infamous legend? Or are you remaining unknown? Do you strike fear in the enemy from your name alone? Or do they cheer and laugh when they hear you are their opponent?

Dear Nigel

This just gets better and better. The more teaser descriptions you post the more awesome it sounds.

It's going to be a very happy Christmas!

Good to know you guys are interested. And what you've got to remember is that the above is just the beginning. As more gets added to the game the scope of the roleplaying expands as well. So you'll be able to conduct any type of adventure.

Although you could go your own way and play regular fantasy adventures, the idea of the War for Edadh RPG is that you're affiliated to one of the warring faction's groups and your adventures will revolve around it. So you're part of a rebel force or part of the Dzaa Empire or part of one of the other warring factions and have your own retinue of troops you're responsible for.

So you'll eventually be able to play the standard quest kind of game - but given the Edadh twist - but what you gain benefits your group and increases its chances to control the region of Edadh its fighting for.

Setting the RPG within an ongoing guerrilla war with multiple sides provides massive scope for adventures. Just let your imagination go . . .

This all sounds very interesing, I may well pick it up just to see what you guys have done with it. I'm not a massive fan of fantasy rpgs but certainly the Edadh world is somewhat more interesting than the standard fantasy offerings so it might even see some playtime one day...

Adding an RPG element to the game, utilising the lore and the existing cards along with new cards sounds very interesting indeed. I'd like to see a solitaire option, within the RPG framework - if that is possible.

Indeed.

The Edath Adventures game is intended to lay the groundwork for the RPG elements which just fit neatly on top.
