Of equal rank to the head of a clan is the Sagi. Through prose, rhyme and song, the Sagi recounts the tales of heroes, heroines and other great people of the clan, paying equal attention to the moronic, the traitors and the infamous. The Sagi also create new poems and songs to act as a record of the deeds performed by the living so that they will be famous, or infamous, for centuries to come.

The Sagi are the clan's entertainers. Many are skilled musicians, dancers, jugglers and acrobats as well as being expert in other stage or carnival arts such as sleight of hand, fire-breathing or jesting.

Before the Dzaa conquered, the Sagi were said to be so skilled that they could evoke emotions in their listeners, making them feel sad, happy, bold, brave, or even frightened. The Sagi used to accompany the warriors into battle in order to embolden them so that they might strike greater fear into the hearts of the enemy. It is said that the Sagi could transport listeners into their tales whilst they told them, so that the audience could actually see the story unfold before their eyes, as well as smell the aromas and hear the sounds.

With the suppression of any supernatural or mystical art by the Dzaa, the Sagi now no longer possess these abilities as they need to be in constant practice, but they are still highly respected members of their clan.
