The Ang Warring Faction

full name: Angueth - an-ghee-eth

Amongst the swampforests and highlands of the country of Cerchae (pron. ker-kay), the rebel warbands of the Ang roam, fighting a guerrilla war against the Dzaa and against their ancient enemy - the Chune. The Ang come from many Cerchae clans and owe no particular allegiance to any one - but only to their heritage, traditions and Old Gods.

The Ang have long since mastered the dangers and beasts of the Cerchae wilderness & live a nomadic existence of constant movement so as to remain hidden from their enemies. Ang have trained beasts to be mounts, trackers, hunters and fighters both on land and in the many rivers, waterways, marshes and pools of Cerchae.

The Dzaa are masters of the battlefield but the Ang are masters in their land. The majority of Ang are of the Qai species - able to hold their breath for a very long time - and so the Ang travel beneath the waves of the countless waterways in relative secret and use this ability to ambush their enemies. They even use the subterranean passages through the upper reaches of Underearth to their advantage. But these dark corridors are travelled with care for the Chune, Qoya and Nuko also utilise them and there are more dangerous beings than them within the maze-like Underearth.

The Ang continue to follow their culture's deities - Ygheke (pronounced eye-geck), god of the Sun, Ulelorh (pronounced you-le-lor), goddess of the Moon, Suvoch (pronounced sue-vok), the River God and especially Wyeneth (pronounced why-neth), Goddess of the Forest. Living their lives as outlaws within the relative safety of the trees, Wyeneth is revered above the other three deities and it is even rumoured that she still walks amongst her people, guiding, leading and empowering them.

The greatest of Wyeneth's followers are chosen to lead the bands - heroes & heroines in their own right. They are known as Kerhiavo, and are granted the ability to shape-change, to heal, travel the world in spirit-form, and call upon Wyeneth for her aid. All are knowencrafter martial-artists with almost supernatural combat abilities. They are marked from their kin with great golden manes wound into their own hair. Kerhiavo are cunning wildsmen and fierce warriors, leading with great charisma and wisdom. They are the teachers of the ancient arts outlawed by the Dzaa overlords but preserved by the Old Gods and their Faithful followers.
