The Ang warring faction are skilled guerrilla fighters. The majority of their numbers are of the Qai species - semi-amphibian - and so they are able to make the most of the numerous waterways in their home country of Cerchae.

The Standard is a physical symbol of an army unit or the army itself. The Ang Standard is the skin of a powerful beast and is worn rather than carried. It is a high honour to be the Standard Bearer.
Battle Masters are the military leaders of the Ang. In a battle it is the Battle Masters that organise and motivate the troops and outwit the enemy.
Weapons : Bow & Hooked Spear.
Clansmen (along with ClanMaidens) are the most common troop type - lightly armoured and skilled with both bow and a hooked spear that they employ to snatch opponent's from their mounts.

ClanMaidens are similar to their male brethren - Clansmen - but prefer axes as a weapon over the hooked spear. The ClanMaidens use their axes as both throwing weapons and in the melee.

The Ang learnt the art of the Shield Wall from the Huaos-Dzaa invaders. Now the Ang always have a contingent skilled in this form of battle.

Female and male fight alongside each other in the Ang shield wall. Shieldmaidens also hurl axes at their enemy just before the shield walls clash.
Weapons : Longbow & Axes
Archers have trained with the longbow since a very early age. The bowstrings are made from hair unaffected by water and so archers can approach the enemy underwater and still use their weapons upon emerging.

Marsh Riders are highly skilled troops proficient in combat at all ranges. Their mounts are amphibious and long-limbed so these riders can make optimum use of waterways and can move with ease through marsh.

Woodsmen is a bit of a misnomer as these scouts are adept in all terrain. They are skilled wildsmen and masters of the longbow. By using waterways their ability to skirmish unseen is highly valued.

Riders are the Ang's light cavalry - they try to avoid close combat by using their speed and agility to continuously attack from range.

The Great Riders are reserved for the melee and are often sent into battle when the tide is just about to turn. The sheer bulk of the mounts makes them a deadly force.

Flankriders are mounted scouts and together with their bipedal hunting beasts are both proficient hunters and deadly fighters.

Ang Outriders go to war mounted and with warbeasts at their side. Fearsome in melee they are also able to shoot from the saddle and so whittle down their enemy's defence before charging.

Flankrunners deliberately employ small warbeasts in battle. These warbeasts are able to move between the legs of front ranks and so can attack an enemy when least expected.

Outrunners are skilled scouts and use their hunting beasts to help track and destroy enemy forces.

The best scouts become Edgerunners as only those skilled enough can handle their powerful hunting beasts. Edgerunners often scout the upper tunnels of the Underearth.

The Huntress scouts with a pack of 4 hunting beasts. Versatile in all terrains the Chaser often goes where other scouts are unable or unwilling.

Traditionally the Tracker Huntress' were similar to the Chasers but have now turned their skills solely to battle. One Ang and four warbeasts make for a terrible opponent.

One Ang and four powerful, amphibious warbeasts use the waterways to deadly effect. Their favourite tactic is to strike from the depths and cause havoc in enemy formations.
