War for Edadh Expansions
23.06.09
Having confirmed the first expansion, The Art of Conflict, we have produced a revised schedule of releases with details of further expansions.
Starting in 2010 we will be releasing one expansion every 4 months, beginning with The Art of the Wildsman. You can find details of this and future expansions on our 'In The Pipeline' page.
The Art of Conflict
04.06.09
War for Edadh's first expansion - The Art of Conflict - will consist of 2 separate decks of 54 cards - one for the Ang and one for the Dzaa. The Art of Conflict completes all gameplay elements details in the Art of the Warrior rulebook - namely Conflict Cards & Secondary Terrain.
The expansion focuses on mounted troops. With the Dzaa you'll get Light Cavalry, Cavalry & Heavy Cavalry. With the Ang Riders, Marsh Riders and Great Riders. For each troop type you'll get 3 Level 1, 2 Level 2 & 1 Level 3 card enabling you to select the level you want to fit into your unit or army.
Each deck will also contain another full set of Mastery Cards so you'll be able to play 3 or 4 player games. Rules for 2 new multi-player games will be released in pdf form to the website at the same time. Unlike the multi-player game included in the base set, if you are familiar with just the Unit vs. Unit game you will be able to play these 2 new games.
New Stratagem Cards include 'Speed Dominance', 'Wedge' and 'Move Terrain' - this last one enabling you to move to Secondary Terrain Cards of which you will get a different type in the Ang deck - 'gully' - to the Dzaa deck - 'ruins'. The Ang deck also comes with the 'Hidden Flanking' Battle Tactics Stratagem Card and the Dzaa deck comes with the 'Switch Units' Battle Tactics Stratagem - both of these increase the strategic use of Support Units.
Add in more powerful Combat Masters, Battle Masters and Standards for each Warring Faction and you've got your 'Art of Conflict Deck'.
Over the coming weeks we'll be detailing how to use all these cards in the game and you'll be able to pre-order your decks very soon - pre-order both and get the limited edition 'Vanguard Legion' card. Plus anyone who buys both decks will be able to buy a War Pack of ML 6 Troop Cards - yes, ML6!

Coming Events
30.05.09
First up - next weekend, 5th to 7th of June you can find us at the UK Games Expo in Birmingham. This event has been growing year on year and showcases all types of games - boardgames, card games, minis, RPGs, etc. If you've never been to a convention before then you should definitely try to make this one. Hopefully we'll see many of you there.
And then on 20th June you'll find us in the Waterstone's bookstore in Poole, Dorset. We're also lining up appearances in other stores around the country and will be announcing our 'tour' dates soon.
Conflict Cards
16.05.09
Conflict Cards enable you to achieve such actions as attacking your opponent's Combat Master (Champion), capture your opponent's Standard, go all out attack, pin your opponent's Unit down and much more.
The above illustration is taken from the 'All out Attack' Conflict Card which enables you to increase the attack value of your Chosen Troop. Conflict Cards will make their first appearance in Expansion 1 - The Art of Conflict. The card list and full details of 'The Art of Conflict' will be announced very, very shortly so make sure you check back soon.
UK Games Expo is now only 3 weeks away - 5th to 7th June. We'll be there...will you?
Your Local Game Store
01.05.09
War for Edadh is now available to retailers through distributors in Europe and North America. If your local gaming store isn't yet stocking War for Edadh then get them to contact their distributors or contact us direct for full details. We had a great day up at the Project Hydra store on Saturday 25th. Met local gamers, demonstrated War for Edadh and it was well received. It could be that the first War for Edadh tournament ever is held there!
The first warring faction we're going to release after Expansion 1 - i.e. Expansion 2 - will be the Nuko and amongst their ranks you can find the canopy runner illustrated above. These long-limbed "mounts" swing through the trees, pass over the heads of their enemies and so attack from behind.
UK Games Expo is just over a month away - 5th to 7th June. We'll be there...will you?
Expansion 1!
17.04.09
Our thanks to everyone who has volunteered to beta test the expansion 1 rules. We've finalised the cards that will be in this expansion - full details coming soon - and one of these is an Ang troop type that utilises small warbeasts -
But don't underestimate these little predators - they're trained to wend their way from the back ranks of a Unit to attack the enemy and have helped to break apart Dzaa shield walls on many occassions.
You can see more Ang Troop Cards in our Card Database.
On Saturday 25th April you'll find us at the Project Hydra store in Northampton, UK. If you're in the area do drop in for a game or demo.

We're hard at work completing the cards and details for the first expansion to War for Edadh. As we've detailed before one of the elements you'll get is new Terrain and here's a glimpse of a River Terrain -
Now if you're interested and have a grasp of the basic Unit vs. Unit game of War for Edadh plus the Conflict Bonus rules then we're looking for beta testers for the game included in Expansion 1.
You'll need to dedicate several gaming sessions over the next couple of weeks. Interested? Then just and we'll fill you in on the details.
Bringing you up to speed!
02.04.09
We've been a bit remiss in keeping our news up to date but as a consequence we've got a fair bit to tell you about.
First up, we've been interviewed a couple of times now about the game, the background to it and its future. One of these was with Flagship - the independent magazine for gamers - and you can read it on their website.
The second interview was with Michael Barnes and appeared on Gameshark.com. This was a longer interview split into 2 parts and you can read it on the Gameshark website - Part 1 & Part 2.
Michael Barnes also wrote a review of War for Edadh. Reviews have also appeared on rpg.net, the no. 1 Spanish game forum labsk.net, the Italian boardgame site Deck & Board as well as several gamer reviews on Boardgamegeek.
We've begun a web comic based in Edadh and Ash has begun a series of videos of him sketching purely for your entertainment!
We're working hard on the first expansion and you can see cards of which some will appear in this expansion - both the Ang and Dzaa Warring Factions.
Since the beginning of the year we've been to several conventions that have been a great success for us and it was good to see some of you there. You can see which conventions we'll be attending next on our events page.
So that's a brief overview of what's been going on here. We aim to keep you updated on a weekly basis from now on so until next week...
